One of the gifts on my Hanukkah wish list this year was a new makeup organizer. It seems I’ve outgrown the one I have and need something bigger to hold all of the new things I’ve acquired. You would think three full-size drawers would be enough, but when your lip products take up an entire drawer…you see my problem. Every time I tell myself to lay off the lipsticks, glosses, stains, and more, I receive more amazing products to try, or see new lippies I want to buy, and the collection grows and grows. To use a tired cliché, “first world problems.”
I’m always glad to share my collection or overflow with my friends and family, but occasionally I find a lip product I love so much, I want to hoard it for myself. The new H3 lip glosses, $20, from Mally Beauty, are one such collection. In fact, of the three glosses I received to review, one has already become an all time favorite makeup item; more about that in a bit.
First, why are these glosses called H3? It’s simple really, the H3 stands for hydration, hydration, hydration. These lip glosses are designed to not only provide weightless shine, but also moisturized, smooth lips. Essentially, every time you apply one of the six glosses from the collection your lips receive great color payoff and intense hydration, and who doesn’t enjoy receiving a little lip treatment from their lip products. I know I do, especially during the drier months of the year when my lips feel constantly parched.
Just like other Mally Beauty lip products I have used in the past, I could still feel the hydration on my lips long after the gloss had worn off, or I had removed it. I also found that the moisturizing properties ensured the application of the H3 glosses was always super smooth. There was no patchiness, nor were the glosses overly sticky.
As I mentioned above there are six glosses in the H3 collection. I was sent three to try:
Pink Daisy – a light pink
Tea Rose – a light nude, pink shimmer
Orchid Berry – a rich berry with pink undertones
I included lip swatches, as well as an arm swatch, to give you a better idea of how each color looks on the lips. As you can see by the pictures, Pink Daisy and Tea Rose are very pale in color, which makes them perfect for everyday wear, while Orchid Berry is more intense. I adore all three glosses, but Tea Rose is my absolute favorite. It adds the perfect amount of shine over other glosses or lipsticks. I’ve worn it many times as a topper, by applying a small amount to the center of my lips, and it completely transforms whatever lip look I’m wearing. I’ve used clear or very light nude glosses before as toppers, but none of them have given me the same shimmery glow like H3 Tea Rose. If you were only going to purchase one gloss from this collection, I would highly recommend Tea Rose.
Another aspect of these glosses I really enjoyed was how long they lasted, especially Orchid Berry. It actually seemed to turn into more of a lipstick than a gloss, without feeling or looking dry, the longer I wore it.
The packaging of the Mally Beauty H3 Lip Glosses is also very unique. It feels modern, yet retro with their heavy Lucite tubes. My only complaint is that the silver design at the top scratches easily, but really that is a minor issue. Perhaps they should have made it matte or even left it off to prevent this from occurring. Although a matte might make it seem like the product inside was a matte liquid lipstick, instead of a high shine gloss.
Overall: The new Mally Beauty H3 Lip Glosses are a must have addition to any lip collection, especially if you love glosses. At $20, they are on the high end for a lip gloss, but definitely worth the investment thanks to their intense hydrating properties.
