Sometimes life throws you a curve ball, for a loop, or makes you use a bunch of clichés, especially when the unexpected occurs. When this happens to me, or I’m in need of some cheer, I put on a good lipstick. It might seem silly, but there is something about a rich, pigmented lip, or even a neutral colored lip, that helps bring me out of the funk. Lately, the lip products I’ve been turning to are the Pür Minerals Lip Lure Hydrating Lip Lacquers, $22.
If you’re not familiar with Pür Minerals, they are an eco-friendly cosmetics and skincare company who strive to make products that produce real results at a great value. All of their products are cruelty-free, and mostly made in the USA. While the Lip Lures were new to me, I have used their CC cream before and really liked it.
The Alluring Lip Lures
The Lip Lures are available in five colors, and Pür Minerals was kind enough to send me three to try out.
Mystic – ripe black berry with a hint of raspberry
Graceful – natural beige with a hint of romance
Fiery – fierce siren (red)
Before I talk about the lip lacquer itself, can we just admire the packaging. It’s silver, it’s metallic, and it’s oh, so sleek. Plus, it’s perfect for travel, or to throw in your makeup bag or purse. If you can’t tell by now, I luuuvvv it.
My adoration doesn’t just stop there. I also really like the click/twist up design that let’s me apply just the right amount of lip lacquer. One of the most unique aspects of the product design is the flocked showerhead applicator. I’ve never heard of a flock showerhead, but this is how Pür Minerals describes their feathery, brush/sponge like applicator. It really does make placing the creamy, full-coverage formula on your lips an extremely precise process.
On a funny side note, the first time I used each color, and had to twist/click the packaging a few times, I got a little weirded out. The lacquers come out in tiny, spidery lines. So yes, at first it reminded me of bug’s legs, and then later of those old Play-doh toys where you can grow hair or make spaghetti. The later comparison making me sound like less of a freak, and more of a nostalgia buff.

Anyhow, back to my review of the actual pigmentation and formula. I found all three Lip Lures to be highly pigmented. They deliver great color payoff, and are also long-lasting. I will say that while they go one glossy at first, the gloss fades over time, leaving you with a more satin, matte look; though not in a drying way. The formulation, which is infused with a blend of orbignya oleifera seed oil, avocado oil and jojoba seed oil, feels very hydrating on the lips, even after the color has worn off or you’ve removed it. While I adored all three Lip Lures, and would love to try out the remaining two colors, I would have to say Mystic was my favorite, with Fiery coming it at a close second. You know how I like my bright, bold colors. Graceful was a tad bit too beige for my skin tone.
Bottom line: Pür Minerals Lip Lures are well worth the $22 price point. They have amazing color payoff, don’t feel drying on the lips, and last for hours and hours. What more can you ask for from a lip product? Plus, they are cruelty-free. I know they will be a lippie staple for me this fall and beyond.
