With a tag line like “Beauty with Brilliance,” it comes as no surprise as to why products from Jane Iredale are always so amazing. Each time I have the opportunity to try a new item out, I enjoy the experience immensely.

This time Jane Iredale sent me two of their PlayOn™ Lip Crayons, $18 each, and one of their new shades of PurePressed®  Eye Shadow Singles, $19 each. I was both intrigued and delighted to see how these products would perform. Of course, I was not disappointed.

PlayOn Lip Crayon in Luscious and Saucy – $18

Jane Iredale Playon Lip Crayons Luscious & Saucy

Available in seven shades, PlayOn Lip Crayons are designed for maximum color pay-off and easy blendability. I can safely say that both of these attributes are accurate. I was sent Luscious, a creamy rose brown, and Saucy, a creamy hot coral. I instantly fell in love with Luscious; it is the perfect fall shade. Saucy, however, took a while to grow on me. I wasn’t sure the bright coral was really something I would wear in fall, but the more I wore it, the more I loved it. I would say the brightness is more of a warmness that adds a light pumpkin color to the lips.

One of my favorite aspects of the PlayOn Lip Crayons is the size of the crayon. Unlike most other lip crayons, these aren’t chubby, which makes application extremely precise. I found I could use them to first line my lips, before filling in my lips with the color. My only complaint, or really wish, is that the crayons were a twist up, instead of a sharpen design, but from the PR info I received, it seems they can be easily sharpened with a chubby sharpener.

Although these lip crayons are a bit on the matte side, the formulation is soft and creamy. I did find them a bit drying at times, but only when my lips were already feeling on the drier side. Adding a bit of lip balm seemed to alleviate this problem. Plus, the high concentration of moisturizing oils in the formulation aided in conditioning and keeping my lips super soft.

PurePressed Eye Shadow Singles in Mermaid – $19

Jane Iredale PurePressed Eye Shadow Mermaid

I rarely buy eye shadow singles, unless I hear raves reviews, and then I must try them. I am so glad I was sent one of the four new PurePressed Eye Shadow Singles. The mineral-based pressed eye shadow formulation is absolutely amazing. It applies like a dream, whether wet or dry. I love it when my shadows can be used in more than just the typical way.

The color I was asked to try is called Mermaid, which is a shimmery, highly pigmented sea foam. Unfortunately, this sea foam color didn’t really work for my blue eyes. It made them look too gray. I think this particular color would work better on brown or hazel eyes. However, I will say, when I used Mermaid over darker matte shadows, it did provide a nice added touch of shimmer. There is a purple, Iris, and a pink copper, Steamy, in the line which I think would really make my blue eyes pop. I may have to check them out very soon.

PurePressed Eye Shadow Mermaid Swatch

Regardless of the color mismatch, I did really enjoy my PurePressed shadow experience. The formulation is long-lasting, didn’t crease, and never irritated my very sensitive eyes. As recommended in the PR sheet, I did try Mermaid on my lips. I placed it on the center of my lips to add some dimension and shimmer to both of the PlayOn Lip Crayons. Not sure if this is something I would do all the time, but it was fun experimenting. You can also wear the shadows on the cheeks, but I wasn’t sure Mermaid would work well this way, at least not on my skin tone.

One final note about the packaging…it is also extremely unique, as it comes with a mirror. Though the mirror isn’t big, it is great for application on the go, or to check and see if your eye look is still going strong.

Bottom Line: Overall, both the Jane Iredale PlayOn Lip Crayons and PurePressed Eye Shadow Single are ideal additions to any fall collection.  Like all Jane Iredale products, the quality and color pay-off is outstanding.

Have you tried the PlayOn Lip Crayons or PurePressed Eye Shadows? What is your favorite Jane Iredale beauty product?
