I’m back again with my second installment of my thoughts on the Rachel Zoe Box of Style, $100. This time I will be reviewing the Fall 2015 box, which has a retail value of approximately, $322. After receiving such a killer Summer box, I couldn’t wait to see what the Fall one would contain, especially since it is my favorite time of year.
If you aren’t familiar with the Rachel Zoe Box of Style, it is a quarterly subscription box started by Rachel Zoe earlier this year. The Fall box marks the third box in the subscription, and the second one I’ve received. My favorite thing about this box, besides its value and all the amazing finds, it the release of the sneak peak of each box’s hero item. In summer it was a beautiful purse, and for fall, the hero item was a watch.
Like last quarter, all the items come expertly wrapped in a black tissue paper inside in a large black box, embossed with “Box of Style The Zoe Report.” The box also comes with a handy little booklet, which details why each item was chosen by Rachel and her editors, provides styling and usage tips, and includes a discount code for future purchases of every single item.
Hero Item: The Timepiece Cluse La Boheme Rose Gold Watch with Dual Straps – $132
“Like I always say, go big or go home, which is why I think every girl needs a statement watch. I love the oversized face and rose-gold finish on this one.” RZ
I have to disagree with Rachel about the need for a statement watch. I have a smaller wrist, and the giant oversized face of this watch doesn’t work for me. I wish it did, because the watch is stunning. The black and griege bands are both made from genuine leather, and the rose gold details are gorgeous. Like most girls, I’m a huge fan of the rose gold, which is probably why the watch I wear on a daily basis has rose gold accents. I also really love the packaging of the watch. Instead of coming in a box, it comes in a beautiful leather case.
The Serum: One Love Organics Gardenia + Tea Antioxidant – $39
“I love fall but it can translate to dry skin. This serum gives you a healthy glow, going deep below the surface of skin to hydrate it. I also love that it’s organic, I assure you this will becomes one of your go-tos.” RZ
This time, I absolutely agree with Rachel Zoe. This body serum is perfect for fall. I have been wanting to try products from One Love Organics for quite some time, and I am so glad I finally have the chance. This serum is ideal for season and for dry skin like mine. It hydrates, without feeling greasy, and the scent is lovely. The combination of the tea and gardenia pairs so well. Neither scent over powers the other. I also love that it comes in a handy spray bottle, which make application a breeze.
The Jewels: Shashi Noa Rose Gold Ear Climbers – $55
“Ear climbers bring a new kind of drama to the way we wear earrings. Think of these as an easy way to add a little edge to any look.” RZ
At first when I pulled these earrings out of the box I wasn’t sure if I could pull them off. Would they look too young? But once I tried them on I fell head over heels. They are so much fun, and look great with a t-shirt and jeans, or with a fun, fall dress. They’re very well made, and come with rubber earring holders to help keep the climbers climbing up your ears. They make such a statement, without being a large, chunky statement earring. I can’t wait to wear these all season long.
The Hat: Topshop Classic Fedora – $48
“Fall is the ideal season to wear hats. I always think it amps up your look a notch, giving you an air of effortless cool.” RZ
I love the idea of this fedora. It is so on trend for fall, but I haven’t decided it if looks right on my head. Sometimes I think yes, it looks fabulous. Other times, I’m not sure if it looks like I am wearing a cowboy hat, or trying too hard. I do love the army/greenish brown color. I definitely don’t have anything like it in my wardrobe. It feels very sturdy on, and I like how snug it fits, so I know it will stay in place. I think I need to take a steamer to it and re-shape the hat a tad. I want it to look more Brit Chic and less Yee Haw.
The Diary: Sloane Stationary Custom Notebook Set – $40
“We may live in a digital world, but I still love to write everything down. Whether you’re jumping into an important meeting or simply jotting down your thoughts, a chic notebook is an essential.” RZ
With the inclusion of these notebooks, I feel like Rachel gets me, she really, really does. As a writer, I love a good notebook and a good pen. These notebooks fulfill one of half of my need. I really like they’re slimness, which is perfect for carrying in my purse or computer bag. Plus, the fact that they aren’t spiral bound means writing in them won’t be such a challenge for this left hander. Rachel recommends using “It’s Everything” to write down quotes and idea, and “Shut It Down” for to-dos. I might have to take her writing cue into consideration.
The Styling Tool: The Laundress Fabric Fresh Classic – $8
“Whether you’re jet-setting the globe or just venturing from your desk to dinner, The Laundress’ Fabric Fresh is a lifesaver. It smells incredible and instantly freshens up anything – your clothes, handbag, even your car.” RZ
I’ve always likes the idea of fabric refreshers, but have often wondered what kind of chemicals they are putting out into the air. With this product, I don’t have to worry about my concerns any longer. The Laundress Fabric Fresh Classic is nontoxic, biodegradable, allergen-free, and doesn’t contain any phosphates, phthalates, or dyes. It is also cruelty-free and contains no animal by-products. This might actually be my favorite item in the box, so thank you Rachel Zoe for including it. It smells divine, is perfect of travel, on-the-go use, or for just freshening up around the office or home. Another great find.
Bottom line: As I mentioned last time, at $100, the box is pricey, but the value is more than worth the investment. While the hero item watch wasn’t a winner for me, it was for someone else. I love how well curated both of the boxes I have received are, and how each time I’ve discovered new items I might not have ever tried myself. I can’t wait to see the winter box, especially since the hero item is a custom gold-tone plated Alexi Bittar adjustable cocktail ring valued at $198.
