NYC City Proof – the Eyeshadow that Never Sleeps

In a New York minute, where dreams are made of, and all the other NYC clichés, I fell for NYC City Proof 24HR Waterproof Eyeshadows, $2.99. These chubby stick shadows might not have New York prices, but they do live up to the city that never sleeps staying power with their 24 hours of vibrant wear.

This is only the second product I’ve tried from NYC (New York Color). In fact, I must admit, I really wasn’t very familiar with this amazingly affordable drug store brand, until probably about a year ago. But now, I always keep my eye out for their new launches whenever I’m at CVS.

The NYC City Proof 24HR Waterproof Eyeshadows come in eleven different shades, and each chubby stick features a twist, glide and go application. According to NYC, these shadow sticks feature 10 benefits, including:

I tried out three of the eleven shades including:

#650 East River Romance – a teal blue with blue and silver glitter

#615 5^th Ave Gold Rush – a shimmery gold

#640 Central Park Tulips – a deep purple

 So did I find all 10 shadow benefits to be true?

 For the most part, absolutely, with only a few minor exceptions. All three shadows had great staying power. I don’t know if it’s 24 hour staying power, as I’ve never worn shadow for that long, but I wouldn’t be surprised if they did last all day and all night. I also found them to be waterproof, crease-proof, smear-proof, and tear-proof, with or without primer.

Application was pretty easy. The chubby stick really does help, and I liked that I could use the products as a shadow or a liner. This is a definite added benefit. However, I will say that while the stick makes application quick and easy, not all of the sticks glided so smoothly. It wasn’t to the point of being painful, but at times I felt I had to press a little bit harder than I would have liked. East River Romance was by far the creamiest and glided the easiest, with 5^th Ave Gold Rush requiring a bit more pressure to apply. All three colors are vibrant, especially Central Park Tulips and East River Romance. I loved the way they made my eyes pop and appear larger. The only shade that I didn’t find as vibrant, as least on my skin tone, was 5^th Ave Gold Rush. It is still a gorgeous gold, but on me it is subtler. I think on someone with a deeper or darker skin tone, 5^th Ave Gold Rush would look more vibrant and intense.

Bottom Line: At $2.99, NYC City Proof 24HR Waterproof Eyeshadows are a steal, especially with eleven colors to choose from. They have great staying power and amazing color pay off. Plus, the chubby stick packaging is great for on-the-go application.
