My hair has been the bane of my existence since my junior high days. I still cringe when I see family pictures from back then. Can you say, big and frizzy? Since then I’ve changed the color, cut, and overall look of my hair many, many, many times. Today, although my hair is much healthier, there are have still been times when I’ve considered shaving it all off. Yes, it annoys and frustrates me that much. But then the dark cloud of bad hair parted when I discovered the miracle that is the Redken Blow Dry Collection.
I was first introduced to the Pillow Proof Blow Dry Express Primer, $22, and Pillow Proof Blow Dry Two Day Extender, $18, through my local Ulta Salon. The hair transformation I experienced was remarkable. My style lasted for days, and my hair looked shiny, without feeling weighed down, oily, crunchy or dry. Needless to say, I’ve been a fan ever since.
I didn’t think the collection could get any better, but not too long ago, a package arrived at my door, and inside was the latest addition to the Redken Blow Dry Collection, Glow Dry Style Enhancing Blow-Dry Oil, $32. Before I give my glowing reviews of this new product, let me provide some more details on the entire collection.
Pillow Proof Blow Dry Two Day Extender 3.4 oz. – $18
This dry shampoo is designed to not only absorb oil and extend your style, but also to absorb odor. Every single time I use it, my hair feels refreshed, thanks to the cool, revitalizing fragrance, and looks as if I had just washed it. My hair is very oily prone, which makes finding a good dry shampoo a bit of a challenge. Pillow Proof really does help to absorb the oil, even when used on second or third day hair. Plus, it goes on sheer, so you don’t have to worry about white caste. My only compliant with the product, I wish the bottle was bigger so it would last forever.
Pillow Proof Blow Dry Express Primer 4.7 oz. – $22
I’ve used a lot of heat protectant sprays, but this is by far my favorite. It does more than protect my hair from the blow dryer, curling iron, or flat iron I use, it also cuts my drying time in half. I may have fine hair, but there is a lot of it, and sometimes I get impatient waiting for the lower half of my hair to finish drying. This is not an issue when I use the primer. My hair dries faster, feels stronger and healthier, and my style has a nice smooth, shiny finish. Hello, good hair days.
Pillow Proof Blow Dry Glow Dry 3.4 oz. – $32
First off, let’s admire the packaging of Glow Dry style enhancing blow-dry oil. The pink glass bottle is like holding a beautiful diamond in your hand; a diamond that is full of fabulousness. I don’t know how Redken did it, but they managed to create yet another outstanding, must have Blow Dry product. The new Glow Dry is a lightweight oil designed to add instant shine and boost blow dry time, especially when paired with the Express Primer. You can use it on damp hair before blow drying, or dry hair to help refresh the shine.
As I mentioned above, I have fine hair, so I am usually apprehensive about using too many products that can weigh my hair down. But after using the Glow Dry and the Express Primer together, all I can say is WOW!!!! My hair looked like I had just come from the salon. It dried faster, was incredibly shiny and felt strong and healthy. I also found the combination of the two products helped hold my style for longer, and increased manageability. I only needed a small amount of the Two Day Extender on day 2 and 3 to help give my hair a bit of a refreshment.
Bottom line: If you haven’t guessed by now, I am in love with the Redken Blow Dry Collection, well really my hair is having a love affair with the collection. I highly recommend Pillow Proof Blow Dry Express Primer, $22, Pillow Proof Blow Dry Two Day Extender, $18, and Pillow Proof Blow Dry Glow Dry, $32. Though they are pricey, all three are worth the investment. Your hair will thank you.
