Skinn Plasma Fusion Products

Press Sample

Although most of the country is still sweating in out in these last days of summer, the feeling of fall is already in the air. Pumpkin everything is popping up, and football season has finally begun. I’m more excited by football than I am pumpkin, but mostly I am ready for a change in my clothing, shoes, shoes, shoes, nails, and makeup. There’s nothing better than the warm colors of fall. In the spirit of all that’s new, I had the chance to try some of the new items in the Plasma Fusion Collection from Skinn by Dimitri James, including the Full Coverage Foundation, $32, Eyeshadow Primer & Setting Veil, $22, and the Full Pigment Lipsticks, $20.

If you’re not familiar with Skinn, it was started by professional makeup artist Dimitri James in 2002. His goal for the company was to, “focus on what goes into the jar and how it will make you look, not how the jar looks.” With that philosophy in mind, Skinn products combine the classic tradition of using pure, natural ingredients with the latest technologies and delivery systems. The company never tests on animals and works to protect the environment by only using recycled, recyclable, and/or biodegradable packing materials, which is helpful, since you can only by Skinn products on www.skinn.com and www.evine.com.

Plasma Fusion Full Coverage Foundation, .5 oz, $32

Skinn Plasma Fusion Full Coverage Foundations

Light, Fair, Medium, Tawny, Deep

It has been quite a long time since I’ve used a foundation stick. I do remember liking the portability, especially for touch-ups on-the-go, as well as the ease of use and texture. After trying the new Plasma Fusion, I’m not sure why I gave up the foundation stick, except maybe because the stick I used to love is no longer available.

The Plasma Fusion Full Coverage Foundation comes in five shades, ranging from Fair to Deep. For this super pale girl, I found I could use both of the lighter shades, but I liked the way Fair looked on my skin the best. The foundation is water resistant, creamy and lightweight, which made it easy to blend. Though the formulation is designed to provide full coverage, it still looked very natural, and allowed me to build it up in areas where my skin needs more coverage, without looking too heavy.

I also really like how the foundation stick’s nutrient rich core, which provided my skin with many benefits, including:

 Skinn Foundation Stick Closeup

  • Vitamin C for brightening
  • Hyaluronic Acid for hydration
  • Peptide blend for anti-aging effects
  • Grape Seed, Argan, and Rosehip Oils for skin conditioning

Plasma Fusion Eyeshadow Primer & Setting Veil, .17 & .12 oz, $22

Skinn Plasma Fusion Eyeshadow Primer & Setting Veil

I’ve been using eyeshadow primer longer than I’ve been using face primer. Mostly because it’s much easier to touch up your foundation, blush, etc, than it is to touch up your eye makeup. Since I’ve been using eyeshadow primer for so long, I’ve experimented with many different products. The Plasma Fusion Primer & Setting Veil is by far the most unique. This two-step system allows you to first prime your lids, and then set your eye makeup after you’ve created your look for the day or night.

Additionally, of all the primers I have ever used, the Plasma Fusion has by far the creamiest, most lightweight formula. It glides on smoothly and blends into the skin effortlessly. The Setting Veil, with its translucent formulation, goes on just as it was designed to, as smooth-as-satin. The combination of the two products kept my eye makeup from creasing and fading. It also didn’t irritate my extremely sensitive eyes. The product description states you are supposed to use Skinn’s Eyeshadow Setting & Blending Brush, but I didn’t have that brush to try. You can find the primer & setting veil and brush set on evine.com for $32.

In addition to being a great primer and setting powder, the product is infused with an anti-aging minerals and nutrients, including:

  •  Antioxidant-rich Grape Seed Oil
  • Energizing Ginseng Extract
  • Vitamins A, C, and E

Plasma Fusion Full Pigment Lipsticks, .12 oz, $20

 Plasma Fusion Full Pigment Lipsticks

While I loved all of the products I tried from Skinn, the Plasma Fusion Full Pigment Lipsticks might have been my favorite. Not just because I am a lippie junkie, but because they are so creamy and hydrating. This is important all year long, but extremely essential during the very dry fall and winter months. Nobody likes to look at dry, flaky lips. Besides dry lips feel awful.

Available in Nudist, a nude with golden tones, and Rusted Red, a bold brick red, these lipsticks deliver great color payoff, apply smoothly, and have fairly good lasting power. They also have a nice satin finish, that I like to think of as the perfect mix between gloss and matte.

And like all the other Skinn products in the Plasma Fusion collection, the lipsticks are infused with a core full of nutrient rich Argan and Rosehip oils to help soothe and nourish lips. These oils definitely deliver on their promise. My lips felt amazingly hydrated, long after the lipstick wore off. I will be keeping one of these in my makeup bag at all times. It’s not often you find a lipstick that feels like a lip balm, but looks like a lipstick.

Bottom line:  The Skinn Plasma Fusion line is a great find, and must have addition to any makeup collection. The prices are competitive with other mid-high end cosmetics lines, but unlike some brands who forget about darker skin tones, this collection is great for all skin tones. I highly recommend checking out the Full Coverage Foundation, $32, the Eyeshadow Primer & Setting Veil, $22, and the Full Pigment Lipsticks, $20. You can find these products at: Skinn.com and Evine.com.
